How to celebrate the Australia Day long weekend?
Can you believe it? Australia Day is here already. Man I can see that 2008 is going to fly faster than 2007 did. Crazy times ahead!!
I'm absolutely stoked about Carl Cox on Sun 27 Jan, been saving myself for that in the past few weeks - can't wait to dance my nutt off!! :-) I have to admit, I'm a mad mad Carl fan and will drop everything to see him play. Last year I saw him at Billboards and then (on 2hrs sleep) went to Sat uni classes for 7hrs and also completed a piece of assessment! Stupid? Maybe. Devoted? definitely. But hell I still got a distinction for that class so yeah it was worth it!
I hope that whatever every chooses for their Australia Day long weekend activities, that they have a damn good blast doing it!!
MWAH! :-)

2008 here we come!!
Wowsers, can you believe it? The Xmas decorations have already started to be put out, the grand final has been and gone, and Summadayze tickets are already available. Where has the time flown???
Again I am ashamed of how little time I have devoted to this blog, but seriously life has been on overdrive lately. Juggling a Masters and a very intense full time job, throw in a second job and some reviewing and you have one very busy Kat!!
Lately Ive become very interested in the history of dance music (yet again). I'm reading this fascinating book about the secret history of disco. It outlines the relevance of it to today's dance music amongst things and is truly a must read for anyone wanting to know dance music on a deeper level. It's called "Turn the Beat Around" by Peter Shapiro. I've also been getting back into Joy Division and have enjoyed many study breaks lately dancing around my room to 'Transmission', 'Digital', 'Warsaw' and of course 'Love will tear us apart'. Classic stuff. Found a book about Ian Curtis, the lead singer who died, but unfortunatley ive been too busy lately to read it. It's in the pile of summer reading.
I recently gave a presentation at Uni in my class, International Communications & Culture, about the globalization of dance music. I found researching about this incredibly insightful, as I explored the way dance music has become a global phenomenon. I even got a High Distinction for it! The class must think Im batty though, all my assessment has been about dance music!! hahah I can't help that Im so passionate about it all.
So now the decision about NYE/NYD parties is starting to loom. Summadayze tickets went on sale last Friday but I must admit that I found the line-up to be quite lacklustre and not interesting at all. Id love to see Sister Bliss and Cosmic Gate but the rest of the line-up Ive either seen or dont like their sound. Grrr. Bustin to find out the Sunshine People line-up but as usual they are a bit slow off the mark with releasing that info. Cmon guys!
Anywho i better stop procrastinating and go back to being a dork studying at home on a Sunday.
:-)

2007 The only way is up!
Slack slack slack I am. Not writing in this blog sicne my arrival in Melbourne over 1 year ago. *slap*
A lot has happened in that time, my life has changed heaps and again I'm flying solo doing what I do best - getting out there and living it up! 2007 is the year for parties, djs and really getting to know the Melbourne scene. Who's up for that?!
So this new chapter all begins this weekend - Laurent Garnier, Future and Pharmacy - what a huge one! Different sounds, different beats, different vibes, different people. All sounds I love and can embrace fully on the dancefloor. Bring it on!
Busting to see Laurent Garnier again, I saw him twice in Japan and he was so impressive! The only reason I'm going to Future is to see my main man, Carl Cox! I just love the guy! Pharmacy, well that stems back to my old raving days in Brisbane and Cyber days in London, I'm interested in seeing how Organ Donors turn out since seeing them back in the UK.
I'm just starting to unravel the mystery which is Melbourne clubbing......so many nights I want to check out. Techno, trance, house, electro, hard trance/house - i want to hear it all!
I LOVE DANCE MUSIC!!! :-)
