The "I don't know whether I could be bothered" entry...

Yes, hello?

In a quandry today. Woke up late. Got to work in a nick-o-time.

Feel despondent.

Possibly due to 31 years looming?

Nah... I'm happy to be the age I am. [I is not afwayd].

Just wished that I got the right reaction from someone today.

Received good news.

Shared it.

Invited.

Got rejected... as well as got the shits.

I want to do some proper celebrating as it seems all I ever do is gig gig gig.

When the opportunity comes up for me to let my hair down, why does this person make me feel like I should be sitting at home?

"I'm all party-ed out".

Well... not much more to say to that... other than... thank goodness for my age.

I'm gonna give you the finger!

Great news... my right ring finger has improved by 19 degrees in ONE week. That's right folks! ONE WEEK! I was becoming concerned that it would fuse and be forever bent but NO! I've been told today by my physio that I don't need to worry about coming in week to week because I've shown so much progress on my own and can pretty much be left to my own devices, along with the helpful exercises to get the tendons back in shape. I also figured out how to remove the cast myself and re-cast it [it's not rocket science but it can get a little tricky!] and they were very impressed and told me that I could continue doing that everyday. They don't advise their patients to do this at all but being that I took the initiative and they witnessed my "handy" work today [pardon the pun! Sorry!] they're confident that I'll have full use of my finger back in less time than originally thought. YAY! So, snaps for me but with the left hand only!

As my showcase approaches, I'm really getting quite excited and quietly nervous about it. My backing besties are all AMAZING! Last night, with the wonderful make up artistry of Elisia, the girls got to show me their outfits as well as have their faces made up as a test run for the night. The transformation of these already beautiful women was truly inspiring. Rebecca, who I never see with a "full face" [only in musical theatre performances, darrrrhling!] looked the same but completely different. If that's possible? I couldn't look away from her. Her eyes became more cat like and the ante re: allure was upped a notch or twenty. She will be beating men off with a stick [let's not be rude here peeps! okay - so I got there first! ha!] Rache and Rosie's faces were equally as beautiful too. What a sight to behold indeed!

All things considering, everything is going according to plan. I have a profile feature in MX newspaper next week, so keep an eye out all you commuters! Not sure which shot we're using but I had lots of fun with Britta Campion [photographer at News Limited] and I'm just really stoked to have the exposure ready and set the week before the performance. Also, Daniel C from Same Same is posting an interview with me as well - very happy about that too - the Universe conspires........

So - that's me in a nutshell for the moment - just about to tackle a banana...

The shit is BANANAS! B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

Anyone heard the Kylie Minogue song [which reminds me of Hollaback Girl]? I really love it! Kylie, at times, morphs ideas from another artist and makes it sound as though she was the first to do it... and does it extremely well. I love her new song. Very catchy... but then again, all her songs are.

Check ya!

Sneaky Sound System live from the Hordern...

In other news today, I have been blessed!!! ha!

I was asked whether I would be interested in writing a review of Sneaky Sound System in concert [at The Hordern - next Saturday night - 17/11/2007] for ITM and I found out today that I got the gig! Hurray! It's been awhile since I've written a review or two and am really keen to get back into it. Plus, Sneaky just so happens to be one of my fave bands. I've seen Connie front Primary in concert before and absolutely loved her antics on stage - her overall look and vocal sound have softened since those days and as a result, she's moved forward in leaps and bounds. I don't think people really "got" Primary - the band encapsulated a lot of different genres in their music [mainly alterno-rock] and kinda floundered as a result. I loved Primary though - don't get me wrong! One of my fave songs is "Young" [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09wPm4d4XHI] Go check it out! The metamorphisis is astounding. I'm really looking fwd to seeing Sneaky - it's gonna be a great night!

Next week I will be tutoring my first singing student in over 3 years. I took a break from teaching as there weren't many people out there who seemed genuinely interested in fine tuning their craft. Through a DJ friend, [Spindarella - www.myspace.com/hardstyleprincess], I met my first student. She's got a great voice and wants to learn the technique and build confidence. I'm ready to begin teaching again. I've gained enough experience in the last 10 or so years to be able to assist others with their gift. Often, by teaching, you learn a shit load about yourself too. I'm really looking fwd to it!

Update on the digits? All are going well - casts are still in place which is GREAT and I've been doing my exercises every day [4 times a day] and feel the straightening process, although painful, is necessary. I'll need them in their casts for more than a month, so on my showcase night, I'll be wrapping over the top of my hand with red ribbon and a big bow - kind of like a corsage! How very teen-movie of me!?

Anyways - to all a FABBY weekend! I've got rehearsals with my backing vocalists, Rachael, Rebecca and Rosie tonight - we're gonna make it a dinner rehearsal so much food and wine will be consumed. Tomorrow, Rosie and I will be hitting the salon to get our hairs done and then Sunday we have a full dress rehearsal at the venue! SOOO excited! The entire band will be there so, we'll have more of an idea as to how the sound sounds and get a good vibe for November 25... can't believe how fast the time has gone! We girls have been rehearsing every week for the last 3 months and we sound pretty amazing! I'm totally chuffed!

Signing off and wishing you all a very merry weekend!

We came here to party, get your hands up everybody, let's celebrate... it's a holiday!

Last night's gig at the Opera Bar with Reel Sessions was GREAT! For a rainy and cold Wednesday night, we certainly pulled a very nice crowd. The great thing about Opera Bar is that there is such a diverse range of people who enter. Whether they're just coming in from the cold or have dropped in after seeing something classical, everyone is pretty happy to chill out and relax. Last night's first set was probably the most "chilled" out Reel Sessions have ever sounded. Damien started off by playing some pretty laid back grooves and James, Dr Bob and I jammed it out together. My inspiration for the evening was "Holiday" [Naughty By Nature] which somehow came into my head after the first few chords were played out from the decks. It was just one of those gigs where everyone was relaxed, having a good time and happy to be playing. I mean, we're always happy to be playing but last night was just so chilled out that it infected everyone! AVGT! [A Very Good Thing!]

Here's the link to You Tube for "Holiday": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fiFn0FoVs4

Have a listen and remember just how good Naughty By Nature are! What ever happened to dem boys????!!!

I'm slightly hungover here at the day job. It's also very quiet as my sidekick is away sick with a migraine, poor blossom! So here I will sit, booking travel, hungrily awaiting midday so that I can take a nap and also looking fwd to getting home this evening and doing sweet fuck all. As the silly season approaches, so do the gigs! So, it's a must that in the in between times, you REST! Sleep and water are the two best things for a singer! [tell that to the wine I be drinking last night! ha!] But yesh... lotsa water today and a nap and I'll slide right into the afternoon...

Peace Peeps!

I think I've brained my damage...

With all the Spacebook and My Face shennanigans going on, I'm finding it a little bit difficult to understand how ITM works. I've not had to log in ONCE since joining from my work computer, I also want to reply to someone from my first blog comment ever [Hi RR! Thanks for the hellos!] and just can't seem to scrape two brain cells together in order to do it... I can post blogs though... so, that's a good thing!

Today I visited the hand specialist who tells me that my right ring and middle finger have the tendons torn away from where they're supposed to be. [I fell and bent my fingers back not once, but TWICE within a week of each other, exactly one month ago - shocker!] Hence the fingers looking like they bend like the Harbour Bridge permanently. Lucky for me, I'd been doing my own exercises to keep the joints from stiffening and after a month of strapping them and exercising and self-massage [don't be rude people! ha!] the swelling refused to go down and off to the dox I went again. Both sets of x-rays are all clear but the damage done to the ligaments and tendons are clearly visible from the outside. It makes things like typing, smoking a cigarette and washing up dishes a total BITCH!

I've always wanted to be ambidextrous and not less than 3 days before having the first accident, I'd swapped my mouse to my left hand so that I could get into the habit of using both hands for general tasks. Then, I fall, and am incapable of even bending my fingers let alone approaching a computer or mouse! Weird state of affairs that one. I'd been meaning to swap the mouse months ago but procrastinated and procrastinated! Anyhoo - the hand is on the mend but it will take a few months. Fuck! It makes you appreciate that these little digits are very important digits indeed!

Oh how we all take for granted our very own health and life!

Tonight? What am I up to tonight? you ask...?

Well, I'm playing at the Opera Bar from 8.30 till 11pm - might see you there if you're up to facing this wintery weather!!!

Big love to ya!

Hi everyone!

Don't know whether any one will notice my blogosphere here but anyway. I'm still trying to "add an event" to the damn page and my computer timed out on me. GREAT!

Saw Justin Timberlake [or Jason Timberline as we've been known to call him] last night and it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. I don't care what anyone says - good or bad - I trucken loved it! GO JT! You're the hotness!

So... welcome... come and see my show in November on the 25th [Sunday] It's a must and just because you've got a dance party or two the night before doesn't mean you can't come and let your spirit run free at Privilege and relax yourself into the week with some of my hot tunes... yeah! DJ Yogi, the dudes from Reel Sessions [James and Damien] as well as Glenn Abbott from Machine Gun Fellatio will be playing with me... literally but not sensually! ha!

See you there - and visit my myspace if you're free and listen to my new track written with Reel Sessions! Enjoy! www.myspace.com/kaypea2007
