New PureHouseMusic.net

Well I'm rebuilding the site at the moment with a view to having it ready before the end of June.  The main reason is because I've been relying on other people to provide content which just isn't happenning.  So I'm going to change the focus from a mix and review base of content to an interview focus.  So far for the relaunch I've got interviews with clickgroove.com, Fred Everything & Bryan Jones and I'll be adding my interviews I've done for ITM as well, (Ben Watt & DJ Sneak) as well as trying to get Brett Johnson to do the one I sent him!
I'll still have a lot of mixes on there but rather than it just be a site where DJs can get featured for nothing it'll focus on a wide range of talent from the web, i've got a guy called Dornan who's doing A&R in that dept.
I'd better get back to it now anyway, just filling in the blanks!

Tonic - the lowdon

So basically Tonic is the sequel to a night I ran in Port Macquarie RSL called "soda", hence the name Tonic.  The major difference is that Tonic is at the only worthwhile venue in the town, and it is a pretty good venue.  The Beach House would well stand on it's own two feet in Sydney and is run as such, plenty of good beers on tap, obviously a good music policy and right on the waterfront it's pretty good.

So for the last year (since about April 2005) I have been runnig a night called "audio lounge" which is just basically James Naylor and myself DJing on Saturday nights till one and on Friday nights till 12.  This is all well and good but with no dancefloor it's hard to rest on it and so I've been pushing for a dancefloor based event.  It was finally given on the 29th April and runs as a monthly thing.  the town is taking a while to get used to it however.  While the place is a regularly busy venue on normal Saturday nights and people whinge about how crap the other clubs are (both top 40 style) they are so used to going that we have closed shortly after 2am both nights so far!

This was also the case when we started "audio lounge" but people came around in the end which they will hopefully do with Tonic.

So once this happens I can look at booking bigger DJs from abroad and Sydney and Brisbane etc and put this place on the map!

That's the plan at least and in the meantime I'll continue my 3 times weekly residency and have fun!  stay tuned...
